can be found in the smartphones of prominent cell phone manufacturers,
it is a world first to serve four EDGE bands as well as nine UMTS
bands, it achieves data rates of up to 14.4Mbps and integrates 6
million transistors inside a 6x6mm small package: We are talking about
the Infineon RF Transceiver Chip SMARTi UE.
Mass production of this extremely successful show-case product started
beginning 2010. It is the result of several years of development
collaboration between DICE and Infineon Munich; with DICE responsible
for the project management.
Based on the C11 130nm RF CMOS technology the SMARTi UE integrates a
large amount of local intelligence on the chip. This minimizes the
interaction with the baseband chip via a digital interface and
consequently also the current consumption is reduced significantly.
Next time you surf the internet with your smartphone or download a
music video you might just remember that all that wouldn’t be possible
without DICE...
