DICE has many years of experience in the design and use of
IrDA-compliant devices and products. Since it is also a development
center for integrated semiconductor circuits, DICE offers a hardware
controller for IrDA communication. The controller is available as a
technology-independent macrocell, modelled in VHDL. |

Objective and IrDA Standard Compliance
|
The
Fast IrDA Controller VHDL core serves as an interface between an
on-chip microcontroller architecture and an off-chip infrared
transceiver. It performs the modulation and demodulation of the
infrared signals and the wrapping of the IrLAP frames as specified in
the IrDA Serial Infrared Physical Layer Specification (IrPHY) Version
1.3 and in the IrDA Link Access Protocol (IrLAP) Version 1.1. Therefore
the Fast IrDA Controller covers the "upper" part of the physical layer
and the "lower" part of the data-link layer, as illustrated below. |
